Three more English clubs step up pursuit of Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze

SEVERAL English Premier League giants are eyeing up the possibility of buying Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze from Spanish La Liga side Villarreal in the summer by activating his €100m release clause.

Currently playing for Villarreal under former Arsenal manager Unai Emery, Chukwueze was a potential target for Liverpool last season but a deal never materialised. Apart from Liverpool, Everton and West Ham have all been interested in the winger in the past but now with the season over, a fresh set of bidding has begun.

According to footballing website caughtoffside.com,  Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are among the clubs looking to sign Chukwueze in the summer. Apparently, Chukwueze's representative have already held talks with some of the best clubs in the English Premier League.

Despite struggling with injuries, Chukwueze has had an outstanding season especially in the Europa League, where he has scored one goal and provided four assists from 11 appearances. Chukwueze, 22, has a €100m release clause in his contract, which has to be triggered by an interested club before transfer talks can begin with the Yellow Submarines.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær could run the rule over Chukwueze when his team battle Villarreal in the Europa League final tomorrow, provided he is passed fit to play the game. Chukwueze was heavily courted by Arsenal in 2016 but a possible deal collapsed because the two sides could not agree on financial terms despite the player passing a medical.
