Biafra Nations League warns police boss that shoot-at-sight order will attract a bitter response

SECESSIONIST group the Biafra Nations League (BNL) has warned the inspector-general of police Alkali Baba that if his men carry out the shoot-at-sight order he instructed them to their members will resort with fullscale violence.

Of late, there has been widespread violence across the southeast, with police stations being burnt down and correctional facilities being attacked. In response to the crisis, Mr Baba  ordered the police to shoot any hoodlums or anyone seen fomenting trouble at sight during a recent visit to Enugu.

BNL, leader Princewill Chimezie Richard, warned that the federal government was trying to provoke Biafran agitators to embark on violence that will result in a declaration of a state of emergency. He added that there will be a high increase in violence should the federal government start extrajudicial killings of Biafran agitators and their supporters in the southeast geo-political zone.

Mr Richard said: “The federal government wants to destabilise the region by ordering the police to shoot at sight. We will not watch the security agencies clamp down on us, as the unknown gunmen are sponsored by politicians for political reasons and have nothing to do with Biafra.”

He added that should the Biafran secessionists start operating like the Boko Haram, it would be worst than what the government is experiencing in Sambisa Forest. Mr Richard insisted that the upcoming Biafra memorial day will be observed.
