We now expect the Northern State Governors Forum to hold their own summit and come out with a communique that looks like this

Ayo Akinfe

[1] We wholeheartedly endorse the call by our southern counterparts calling for a restructured Nigeria run according to the dictates of the 1963 constitution whereby the federating units control all the resources within their domains

[2] We are in 100% support of an immediate federal ban on open grazing

[3] We shall open six mega cattle ranches in Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Niger, Taraba and Bauchi states

[4] By 2030, every state in northern Nigeria will be economically self-reliant and as such the federal allocation regime will be abolished that year

[5] Every state in northern Nigeria is committed to generating and distributing all the power it uses internally by 2030

[6] Every state in northern Nigeria pledges to spend at least 30% of its annual budget on education for the next 20 years in a bid to narrow the skills gap with southern Nigeria

[7] Every governor in northern Nigeria is from henceforth obliged to attract at least $1bn in foreign direct investment annually

[8] We shall be writing to the Organisation of Islamic Conference demanding that a minimum of $5bn worth of Islamic finance invested in Nigerian infrastructure annually or we shall revoke our membership

[9] Every local government area in northern Nigeria must have at least 12 primary schools, six secondary schools and one technical vocational college
