Reverend Father Mbaka resurfaces in Enugu ending speculation that he was in custody

CONTROVERSIAL clergyman Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka has resurfaced in Enugu over the last few hours after he was declared missing in controversial circumstances following his recent calls for President Muhammadu Buhari to resign.

Reverend Mbaka, the spiritual director of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, achieved national fame in 2014 when during a Christmas mass he predicted impending doom for the then President Goodluck Jonathan. He initially supported President Muhammadu Buhari but since then, however, he has become a fierce critic of the government, accusing it of betraying the hope a lot of Nigerians had in it.

Last week, Reverend Mbaka called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign because God is angry with him over the widespread killing of innocent people across Nigeria. In a swift response, presidency officials said Reverend Mbaka should be ignored because he is a contractor who is only unhappy with the government because his requests for contracts were not approved.

Responding to his critics over the weekend during his Sunday sermon, Reverend Mbaka warned the Buhari regime that he should be the last person they fight, as heaven’s anger would fall on them should they try it. When Reverend Father Mbaka went missing this morning, there were fears that he may have been arrested.

This morning n Enugu, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide  raised the alarm over the whereabouts of Reverend Father Mbaka. Tension suddenly griped the city but at around 2pm this afternoon, the cleric returned to Enugu amid jubilant scenes, with his supporters surrounding his vehicle.

Nigeria's Department of State Security (DSS) had said that Reverend Father Mbaka was not in their custody.DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, said:  “This is not true.

"Father Mbaka was not picked up by the DSS, Reverend Father Mbaka is not with the DSS. The DSS did not pick him up, please.”
