Faced with uncaring and vision less leaders, here are 10 things ordinary Nigerians can do to make their lives better 

(1) Form neighbourhood defence teams to provide security 
(2) Instal solar panels on their homes to generate power 
(3) Chase away election candidates who come to campaign without detailed manifestos 
(4) Poison wells wherever they know terrorists are operating 
(5) Always buy Made in Nigeria goods first 
(6) Make a pledge never to discriminate against a person from another ethnic group 
(7) Hold weekly neighbourhood cleaning days to keep their environment clean 
(8) Take up cycling where possible to avoid making our urban traffic jams bigger 
(9) Eat in moderation and exercise bearing in mind we lack a functioning health service 
(10) Stop paying ransom fees to kidnappers. It only provides them with cash to buy more weapons
