West Ham consider making a bid for Slavia Prague's Nigerian striker Peter Olayinka

ENGLISH Premier League side West Ham in looking at the prospect of signing Nigerian striker Peter Olayinka this summer having been impressed with his exploits in the Europa League with his Czech club Slavia Prague.

 

Olayinka, 25, has been in fine form in this season's Europa League, scoring three goals and setting up two others in nine games. Tomorrow, his team host Arsenal in the second leg of the Europa League quarter final after the first leg ended 1-1 at the Emirates Stadium in London.

 

Apparently, Olayinka is one of three Slavia Prague players on West Ham's radar alongside Abdallah Sima and Ondřej Kolář. During the last few transfer windows, the Hammers have done transfer business with Slavia Prague, signing defensive midfielder Tomáš Souček  and right back Vladimír Coufal from the Czech champions.

 

Olayinka has seen his stock rise following his excellent performances this season, helping Slavia Prague remain unbeaten in the league and qualifying for the quarterfinals of the Europa League. He is tied to Slavia until the end of the 2022/23 season, having extended his contract with the club last December.

 

A product of the Lagos-based 36 Lion FC football academy in Nigeria, Olayinka began his European career in Albania in 2012, featuring for Division One clubsides Bylis and Skënderbeu. He arrived at Slavia Prague in July 2018 having been bought from Dutch side Gent for a fee in the region €3m.
