NIGERIAN midfielder Chidiebere Nwakali has joined Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen from Norwegian club Sogndal on loan until the end of the season becoming the later Super Eagle to make a move in the January transfer window.
Nwakali, 21, a former Nigerian youth international has already joined up with the Dons at their winter training camp in Dubai. He has been a Manchester City since January 2014 and has had previous loan spells in Spain and Norway.
His signing, subject to a work permit, fills the gap in the Aberdeen squad opened by Greg Tansey's loan move to Ross County. An Under-17 World Cup winner in 2013, Nwakali is a central holding player who scored four goals in 26 appearances for Sogndal in last year's Tippeligaen.
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes, said: "Manchester City have been very keen for Chidi to get some competitive game time and it's a deal we've been working on for a couple of months now."
On 20 January 2014, Nwakali signed a four-year deal with Manchester City from Shuttle Sports Academy, after impressing with Nigeria under-17s at the 2013 Fifa U-17 World Cup. He was also a part of the first team's pre-season tour to the US in July that year and has subsequently been sent out on loan.
