Super Eagles fullback Ola Aina wins English Premier League November Goal of the Month Award

SUPER Eagles fullback Ola Aina's sensational strike against West Bromwich Albion (WBA) in his club's 2-0 victory in November 2 premiership match has won the English Premier League goal of the month award for November.

In that game, Aina sealed the Cottagers' first league win of the season in style, firing in a rocket from outside the 18-yard box. It was Aina’s maiden goal in the Premier League having previously played for Chelsea where he was a bit-part player but never got to see Premier League action with the club.

Aina, 24, saw off competition from Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze, Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez, Southampton duo Danny Ings and James Ward-Prowse, Brighton and Hove Albion's Solly March, Leicester City's Jamie Vardy and Leeds United's Raphinha to win the award. This recognition makes him the first Fulham player to win the Goal of the Month award since Andre Schurrle in January 2019.

A versatile defender who can play on both flanks as well as a centreback,  Aina's finish against WBA from outside of the box came after a flowing move that involved Aleksandar Mitrovic and Bobby Decordova-Reid. he is only the third ever Fulham player to win the goal of the month contest alongside Jean-Michael Seri and Andre Schurrle.

Aina returned to England in the summer on loan from Italy where he played for Torino, who bought him from Chelsea for €10m. Fulham has the option to sign him on a permanent deal at the end of the season and will most likely do so if the club can remain in the Premier League.

So far this season, Aina has made eight Premier League appearances for the Cottagers who sit 17th in the league table with seven points from 11 matches. A regular starter, who has recently been playing as a part of a back three, Aina is expected to put in a solid defensive shift when Fulham host Liverpool for their next Premier League fixture at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
