Spartak Moscow enquire about purchasing Victor Moses from Chelsea after failing to land Spurs man

FORMER Super Eagles winger Victor Moses could be on his way to Russian side Spartak Moscow after the club approached Chelsea about securing his services following the failure to recruit its original rightback target from rivals Tottenham Hotspurs.

Aiming to play in the Uefa Champions League, Spartak Moscow, who once had Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emenike on its books, have been in the market for a new rightback. Over recent weeks, the club has been trying to purchase Ivorian Serge Aurier from Tottenham Hotspurs but the move fell apart after the player rejected the move.

Following the failure to get the Spurs man, Spartak have approached Chelsea as Moses is currently surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge. Moses appears not in the plans of manager Frank Lampard considering the fact that he has yet to figure for the Blues in domestic competitions this season and was omitted from the Champions League roster.

Moses has now entered the last nine months of his contract with Chelsea and will have to extend his agreement by a further year before he is given the green light for his loan move to Spartak Moscow. An option to buy set at £8m will be included in the deal taking the Nigerian to Spartak Moscow.

Since joining Chelsea in August 2012, Moses, the former Crystal Palace and Wigan Athletic man has spent time on loan at Liverpool, Stoke City, West Ham, Fenerbahce and Inter Milan. After the 2018 World Cup, Moses retired from international football to enable him focus on his club career.
