Ndidi rumoured to be on his way to Spurs after being left out of Leicester pre-season squad

SUPER Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi looks set to join London Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspurs after he was omitted from the Leicester City pre-season squad amid talk that a big money transfer is imminent.

Ndidi, 23, who almost had a perfect season but for the fact that Leicester City failed to qualify for the Uefa Champions League, has been the top tackler and ball winner in the English league for the last three seasons. Since his move from Belgian side Genk three seasons ago for £15m fee, Ndidi has been exceptional for the Foxes, leading to numerous big clubs enquiring about him.

Clubs that have been on his case include Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Arsenal but it appears Spurs are the only ones to have put in a firm bid. This week, Ndidi did not resume pre-season training with Leicester and was not in the squad yesterday for their 2-0 win over Birmingham City in a friendly.

Some sources close to Leicester say Ndidi is undergoing a mandatory medical isolation upon his return to England from holiday. However, it is also said that he is being left out of the Leicester squad as a transfer is imminent.

Ndidi has a contract with Leicester City until the summer of 2024 having put pen to paper on a new deal after the 2018 World Cup. This will mean that to prise him away from Leicester will cost any potential buyer a significant sum, with €45m estimated to be his minimum worth.

Leicester City' next pre-season friendly comes up against Sheffield Wednesday at Loughborough University on Saturday, August 29. Football analysts will be eagerly watching to see if Ndidi features in the game.
