Ajimobi died from multiple organ failure brought about by Covid-19 complications

FORMER Oyo State governor Abiola Ajimobi apparently died from multiple organ failure caused by complications from Covid-19 which led to a deterioration in his health according to the Lagos State government.

Yesterday, Senator Ajimobi, who served as Oyo State governor between 2011 and 2019 and who prior to that was in the senate, gave up the ghost at the age of 70. According to the Lagos State health commissioner Professor Akin Abayomi, the multiple organ failure he suffered from was caused by complications from Covid-19, which the former governor had contracted.

Earlier this month, Senator Ajimobi later tested negative for Covid-19 and his case got so bad that he had to be placed on a life support machine. Senator Ajimobi had been hospitalised at First Cardiologist and Cardiovascular Consultants Hospital, Lagos on June 2, where he finally gave u8p the ghost yesterday.

Professor Abayomi said:  “We regret the death of the immediate past governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi who passed on today, June 25, 2020 at First Cardiologist Consultant, a private Covid-19-approved care facility in Lagos State. The former governor died from multiple organs failure following complications from Covid-19 infection.”

Tributes have been pouring in for the former governor from political associates, including President Muhammadu Buhari. Senator Ajimobi had recently been elected as the acting national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress following the suspension of chairman Adams Oshiomhole but was too ill to take up the position.
