English Premier League's Wolves make £6.3m bid for Nigerian midfielder Alhassan Yusuf

ENGLISH Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a £6.3m bid for Nigerian midfielder Alhassan Yusuf with a view to prising him away from Sweden's IFK Goteborg at the end of the season.

Yusuf, 19, started his career with the Tiki-Taka Academy in Nigeria before moving to Goteborg in July 2018 and after coming through the youth ranks, became a regular this season. He is regarded as a player who could go on and play at the highest level, which has attracted the attention of Wolves and Premier League rivals Sheffield United.

Wolves, who are currently sitting in sixth place in the English Premier League, also had a decent run in the Europa Cup and are hoping to build on this next season. Portuguese ace Joao Moutinho is already 33 and reaching the rear end of his career, so Yusuf is seen as an ideal replacement for him in midfield.

Yusuf is slowly making a name for himself and Wolves see him as someone capable of doing better with the required experience. Sheffield United are believed to be out of the race to sign the player now as despite being interested, the club was only willing to pay half that sum demanded by Goteborg.
