Rapper Kanye West donates $2m to the families of George Floyd and other black victims of police brutality

RAPPER and fashion designed Kanye West has donated $2m to support the grieving families of George Floyd and other victims of police brutality in the US as well as offered to cover the legal fees of any court action they take against the authorities.

Over the last week, the US has been in a state of upheaval as the public protests the murder of Mr Floyd, who was killed in Minnesota when a policeman chocked him to death. Mr West, a rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, composer, entrepreneur and fashion designer has stepped into the row by backing Mt Floyd's family, as well as that of Ahmaud Arbrery and Breonna Taylor.

In addition, Mr West, 42, has also set up a college fund to cover the tuition for Mr Floyd’s six-year-old daughter, Gianna. A representative of Mr West added that he  has also offered to cover the legal fees for the families of Messrs Arbery and Taylor.

On November 10, 2007, Mr West's mother Donda West passed on aged 58 after which the Los Angeles County coroner's office said that she had died of coronary artery disease and multiple post-operative factors from, or as a consequence of, liposuction and mammoplasty. California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger subsequently signed the Donda West Law, legislation which makes it mandatory for patients to receive medical clearance through a physical examination before undergoing elective cosmetic surgery.
