Two more Nigerians in the UK succumb to the dreaded coronavirus over the last 24 hours

TWO more Nigerians in the UK have passed away from the dreaded coronavirus over the last 24 hours after it was revealed that Carol Jamabo and Chidinma Olajide both succumbed to the pandemic yesterday.

In a week that has been very tough for the Nigerian diaspora community in the UK with the loss of medical doctor  Dr Alfa Sa’adu and food store owner Adeola Onasanya, things appear to be getting worse. Although no formal figures of how many Nigerians in the UK have died from the virus are available, there may be as many as a dozen, given the large number of them that work in the National Health Service (NHS).

Yesterday, it was reported that Ms Jamabo, who is an NHS worker, might have contracted the virus while at work. She attended Federal Government Girls College Abuloma, near Port Harcourt in River State, from where she graduated in 1980.

Ms Olajide for her part, attended Federal Government Girls College Owerri, from where she graduated in 2002. Making her death the more tragic is the fact that she leaves behind an eight month old baby.
