Fayose lashes out at opponents criticising him for enjoying an exotic holiday abroad

FORMER Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose has hit back at critics who have criticised him for enjoying a flambouyant Christmas holiday abroad while claiming he needed to travel overseas for medical treatment.

Governor Fayose who is currently facing corruption charges was granted bail to seek medical attention abroad but over the last week, he has been spotted at a holiday camp somewhere in southern Europe. He has been seen on the beach, enjoying his time on a luxury boat and this morning was filmed dancing with an unnamed white lady at a New Year's Day party.

Critics have said he is abusing the magnanimity of the court as there is nothing wrong with the former governor. There are now likely to be calls for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to appeal against his bail but in a New Year's Day message, Governor Fayose said he will remain a headache to his haters this year if they do not repent.

Governor Fayose said: "Once again, Happy New Year to everyone, particularly my haters politically or otherwise. How far can you go in your machinations? Definitely nowhere.

"Remember, He that is blessed of God cannot be cursed. I will remain your headache in 2020 if you don’t repent."

Currently facing trial over a N6.9bn fraud and money laundering charge, Governor Fayose was granted bail to travel abroad for medical treatment in July 2019 by the Federal High Court in Lagos. Between 2015 and 2019, he was the main mouthpiece for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, acting as a major thorn in the side of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
