Osimhen allays fears about his injury saying he will be available for Nations Cup qualifiers

SUPER Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has allayed fears that he will miss Nigeria's 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho next month after picking up an injury while playing for his club over the weekend.

 

On Saturday, Osimhen, currently the leading goalscorer in the French league and France's September Player of the Month, was substituted in the 58th minute during Lille's 3-0 home win over Bordeaux. Lille's manager Christophe Gatlier, revealed after the match that Osimhen had a pain in his adductor, which could be a problem.

 

On November 14 and 19 Nigeria clash with Benin and Lesotho in a Cameroon 2021 double header qualification matches and there had been fears that Osimhen might miss the matches. By far Nigeria's best striker at the moment, Osimhen, 20 is expected to lead the line and the striker has confirmed that he will be available, taking to social media to inform his fans that there is nothing to worry about.

 

Osimhen has scored seven goals and recorded two assists in 11 league games for Lille this season. His remarkable performances for Les Dogues back in September earned him the player of the month award and he was presented with the gong just before kick-off against Bordeaux.
