Aribo declares himself fit for Brazil friendly as Ola Aina pulls out after freak accident

GLASGOW Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo has declared himself fit and ready to play for Nigeria against Brazil on Sunday when the two teams clash at Singapore's National Stadium saying he has recovered from a recent head injury.

Scoring on his debut against Ukraine last month, Aribo proved to be sensation on the night and Super Eagles fans were looking forward to him being a team regular. However, a few weeks ago, he sustained a head injury in a league match, leading to him missing Rangers' last two games, raising fears that he might miss the Brazil match.

However, the player has informed the Eagles technical crew of his availability for the international friendly on Sunday in Singapore. Over the weekend, Aribo made his return to the Rangers bench over the weekend as the Glasgow giants defeated Hamilton Academy 5-0, prompting him to declare fit.

One Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) official said: "Aribo is fit for the game. He has informed us that he will be available so no cause for alarm. There’s a chance of him playing with a protective head gear but it’s very slim since the stitches have been removed from his head."

He added that the 25 year old joked about getting another goal for the Super Eagles after scoring on his debut in the 2-2 draw against Ukraine. According to the NFF official, Aribo is in a confident mood going into the game.

Meanwhile Torino wingback Ola Aina is out of the Brazil friendly after picking up an injury after a domestic accident and will not be available for selection. He joins an injury list that includes Kenneth Omeruo, Ahmed Musa, Samuel Kalu and Friday Onyekuru.
