Rohr says there is not enough time to get Abraham and Tomori for next month's Brazil friendly

SUPER Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has said it will not be possible to invite the Chelsea duo Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori to camp for next month's friendly match against Brazil because there is not enough time to organise Fifa switches for them.

Both Abraham and Tomori are eligible to play for Nigeria but they have featured for England youth teams in the past, so will need to switch nationality through Fifa to be eligible to feature for the Super Eagles. Nigeria is playing a friendly game against Brazil in Singapore on October 13 and with Abraham and Tomori both having a established themselves in the Chelsea team this season and being in fine form, there have been calls for them to be invited for the match.

However, Coach Rohr, has disclosed that it would not be possible to have them in camp as switching nationality is a long process. He pointed out that the process takes about a year as happened with the case of Torino and former Chelsea fullback Aina, who eventually made the switch after a lengthy battle.

He added: “The two players, Abraham and Tomori, have already played with England and there is a long process to follow before they can feature for Nigeria. It took the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) one year before we could get Ola Aina to play for us and my squad for next month’s international friendly has already been submitted."

Of the two players, Tomori appears to be the most keen to play for Nigeria, saying that he will feature fir whoever invites him to play international football. Abraham, however, has already featured in a friendly for the England senior team, so getting him is likely to be a lot trickier.
