Former Golden Eaglet Habib Makanjuola becomes the latest Nigerian to join Leicester City

FORMER Golden Eaglet Habib Makanjuola has become the latest Nigerian player to join former English Premiership champions Leicester City after signing a four-year deal with the club sealing his transfer from Chelsea.

 

Now the most popular club for Nigerian footballers in England, Leicester signed Makanjuola, 18, from Stamford Bridge after he completed a medical. His signing now brings the total number of Nigerians at Leicester to four as he will be joining compatriots Wilfred Ndidi, new signing Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa, who has been rumoured to be on his way out.

 

Makanjuola, will join up with Leicester City’s U-23 team for the coming season after impressing on trials at the club. An excited Makanjuola, who was part of the Nigerian Golden Eaglets squad that won the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in United Arab Emirates, said he hopes to cement a place in the first team squad of the club.

 

“I’m happy joining the club. My trials went well and my dream is to play regularly for the club,” Makanjuola added.
