Daddy Freeze lays into Deeper Life's Pastor Kumuyi for saying women should not wear trousers

CONTROVRSIAL disc jockey Ifedayo Olarinde popularly called Daddy Freeze has hit back at Deeper Christian Life Ministry clergyman Pastor Williams Kumuyi for saying that it is an abomination for women to wear trousers.

Last week, Pastor Kumuyi, the general superintendent of the church hit out at Nigerian women who wear trousers, saying their actions were tantamount to sin. He quoted parts of the bible where it said that a man shall not wear a woman's garment and a woman should not wear a man's garment to back up his assertion.

Pastor Kumuyi's comments have however, attracted widespread criticism with women's groups saying he is seeking to take Nigeria back to biblical times. Joining the argument, Daddy Freeze, the founder of the Free Nation movement, which has taken issue with Nigeria's rich clergymen, who make millions off poor people by levying them tithes, representing one tenth of their incomes, said Pastor Kumuyi was totally wrong.

According to Daddy Freeze, Pastor Kumuyi is somebody he respects and would not disrespect him but stated that the preacher was wrong for saying women should not put on trousers. He scored Kumuyi zero in the matter and went on to cite Deuteronomy 22:5 where the Deeper Life pastor took his text and capped it up with verses 23, 25 and 28.

Daddy Freeze said: “When you go to shops, there is always female and male shorts and there are male and female trousers, so Kumuyi’s theory is flawed. You cannot pick the text you like, that suits you, so if you are doing Deuteronomy, you must do all.

“Not wearing male or female clothes is Jewish tradition, they have been abolished in the New Testament and there is no need for women to have separate clothing.  Each time you try to keep Deuteronomy, you are cutting yourself off from Christ.”
