Chelsea reject Fernebahce's offer of €5m for Victor Moses saying buying him outright will cost much more

CHELSEA have told Turkish giants Fernebahce that they need to come up with a much bigger offer if they want to purchase Super Eagles winger Victor Moses on a permanent basis as the €5m (£4.3m) they have offered for him is totally insufficient.

Moses, 28, joined Fernebahce on loan during the January transfer window after he got frozen out at Chelsea and since going to Turkey he has seen his career rejuvenated. Pleased with his performances, Fernebahce are looking to make the deal permanent and have offered €5m for the player but this is way below Chelsea's asking price.

Produced by southeast London side Crystal Palace, Moses played for the club between 2007 and 2010 after coming through their youth ranks, from where he joined Wigan Athletic before signing for Chelsea for £9m from in the summer of 2012. Last year, palace wanted to buy him back for about £12m but it appears the two sides were unable to reach a deal.

Expecting the Turkish side to at least match the Palace offer, Chelsea have rejected Fernebahce's bid, insisting that the Moses who has previously been on loan to the likes of Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham is far worth more than that. Fernebahce are now left with the option of either increasing the bid or looking elsewhere for an alternative winger.

Fernebahce's sporting director Damien Comolli, is expected in England to meet face-to-face with the Chelsea executives and thrash out a deal. Mr Comolli, who previously worked at Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, played a key role in convincing Moses to join Fernebahce in the January transfer window.

Moses who joined the Turkish side in January has so far made eight appearances for the side netting two goals. His contract with Chelsea runs until the end of the 2020/21 season, so the club has the option of either selling him, continuing to send him out on loan or terminating his contract.
