Jigawa man beheads his own brother over petty cattle dispute as jealousy gets the better of him

MEN of the Jigawa State Police Command have arrested a 22 year old man and plan on charging him with murder after he beheaded his brother over a petty cattle dispute in Gwaram Local Government Area of the state.

 

According to the police, Gambo Sa’idu of Badakoshi village in Gwaram Local Government Area, killed his brother Haladu,40, using a cutlass. Police spokesman Audu Jinjiri, explained that the Gwaram police station received the report around 2.45 pm on yesterday and they immediately visited the scene of the crime.

 

He added: “The suspect attacked the deceased in the bush while rearing cattle. The suspect is also a drug abuser and is suspected to have committed the offence after taking some drug.”

 

Mr Jinjiri explained that the deceased was confirmed dead by a medical doctor at Gwaram General Hospital. He added that preliminary investigations showed that the suspect killed his brother for possessing more cattle than him.

 

He said that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal, Intelligence and Investigation Department in the capital Dutse, for further investigation. It is then expected that Mr Sa'idu will be charged to court for premeditated murder.
