Young Peoples Party's lone senator Ifeanyi Ubah agrees to caucus with APC in National Assembly

YOUNG Peoples Party's (YPP) only lawmaker in the National Assembly Senator Ifeanyi Ubah from Anambra South Senatorial District is reported to have defected and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Senator Ubah, the lone YPP senator in the senate, met with Ac national chairman Adams Oshiomhole yesterday where he agreed to caucus with the ruling party. After their meeting, Mr Oshiomhole informed the APC's national working committee members that Senator Ubah was now with the ruling party.

Describing Senator Ubah as a smart politician, Mr Oshiomhole said he has decided to pitch tent with the ruling party because he felt more comfortable with the winning team. He, however, added that other issues related to Senator Ubah’s defection would be perfected on a later date.

However, Senator Ubah, has said he is just caucusing with the ruling party as it offers him value but he remains a YPP lawmaker. On why he attended the meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari and APC caucus, Senator Ubah said he went there in order to seek solutions to the problems Igbo traders are having in Lagos.

Senator Ubah said: “Yesterday I was in Lagos with the leadership of the senate and over 20 other senator-elect to brief the press. After the briefing, I was invited by our trader brothers from Tradefair and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) to meet the senators over the tussles our brothers are having over their assets and the rumours of the privatising of the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex.

“Luckily, the senate leader and by God’s grace the incoming senate president was the chairman that resolved Balogun Business Association issues in 2011 with the BPE and made the recommendations that they are enjoying till date. He promised to swing into action immediately to resolve their current issues again and we left Lagos to Abuja for a dinner with Mr President and APC senators and their caucus."
