Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho undergoes medical at Leicester City after agreeing £25m move

SUPER Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho is currently undergoing a medical at former English Premier League champions Leicester City after agreeing terms with the club on a move from Manchester City.

After lengthy negotiations, the two clubs agreed on a £25m transfer fee, allowing Iheanacho, 20, to move from Manchester to the King Power Stadium. Iheanacho has scored 21 goals in 64 appearances for City but was limited to just five Premier League starts last season after coach Pep Guardiola bought Gabriel Jesus to strengthen his attack.

His failure to get playing time and Pep Guardiola’s reported move to sign either want-away Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Monaco's Kylian Mbappe during the summer transfer window, made it inevitable that the striker would leave the club. However, Manchester City made it clear that it would only sell if a buyer met its £25m asking price.

It now appears that the two sides have agreed a fee and if all goes well with the medical, Iheanacho will join compatriots Ahmed Musa and Wilfred Ndidi at Leicester. It is not yet clear if Leicester were able to meet Iheanacho's hefty wage demands as he was reported to be earning £85,000 per week at Manchester City.
