England's Rio Ferdinand participates in Guinness's Fans Made More event in Lagos

FORMER LEEDS United and Manchester United skipper Rio Ferdinand recently participated in the Fans Made of More event organised by Guinness in Lagos as part of a programme to uncover local talent.

 

Ferdinand, 40, is a former England centreback who set a record as the youngest defender to for the Three Lions in 1997 when he made his debut against Cameroon, aged just 18. He has a total of 514 league appearances featuring for West Ham, Queens Park Rangers, Bournemouth, Manchester United and Leeds United, scoring a total of 11 goals.

 

Current a Guinness ambassador Ferdinand in Lagos, Nigeria as part of his partnership with the company to uncover more talent. During his visit, Rio met two-time Guinness world record holder, Harrison Chinedu, among other things and took time to bond with Chinedu and scores of football fans over a game of two-touch football. 

 

That Ferdinand won the competition was received well by his spirited fans, as they celebrated over bottles of the bold black liquid, enabled by great Nigerian music. During the visit, Ferdinand went to several locations in Lagos, meeting and engaging passionate football fans in banter and sharing the tips, habits and disciplines that helped to distinguish him.
