Orji Kalu reveals that Ipob leader Nnamdi Kanu is safe and well in London where he fled to

FORMER Abia State governor Dr Orji Kalu has dropped a political bombshell revealing that the elusive Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) leader Nnamdi Kanu is hiding in London where he fled to after soldiers stormed his father's compound in Abia State.

Military operations were carried out around Mr Kanu's home in September last year forced him to flee and go into hiding along with his father Eze Isreal Okwu-Kanu, the traditional ruler of Afaraukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, in Abia State.  Ipob and its supporters have since claimed that the Nigerian military arrested Mr Kanu, although this has been denied by the chief of army staff Le General Tukur Buratai.

Yesterday, Dr Kalu claimed that Mr Kanu fled to the UK during the time the military were looking for him and has remained there ever since. Speaking in Minna where he had gone for a meeting with former military general Ibrahim Babangida, Dr Kalu said that the Ipob leader is alive and well.

He added: “Nnamdi Kanu is where I told you he is. He is in London, he is safe.”

Br Kalu explained that he visited General Babangida to canvass support for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari. He added that his campaign for President Buhari had nothing to do with the southeast getting the presidency in 2023 or his perceived presidential ambition.
