Everton striker Ademola Lookman says he is ready to consider playing for Super Eagles

EVERTON striker Ademola Lookman has agreed to consider switching his allegiance from England to Nigeria asking for more time to ponder over his international future after being approached by Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr.

Born in Wandsworth in London, Lookman, 20 is an England U21 international eligible to represent both countries. In the past, Coach Rohr has approached him to consider playing for Nigeria and the player did not commit to the Super Eagles but he has now revealed that he would like to consider things a bit more before making a final decision.

Currently on the books of English Premier League club Everton, Lookman spent the second half of last season on loan to German side RB Leipzig. Following his sterling performances, the club want to sign him on a permanent deal but Everton has already rejected one bid, as they see him as a player who has a future on Merseyside.

One source close to the player said: Nothing is cast in stone yet as Lookman has Nigerian heritage and playing for them is an option. He has hidden it although he is proud of his present spot as an U20 international for England.

"I don’t think Nigeria have contacted him yet since they last did before the World Cup but if they do, they maybe stand a better chance now that when they first contacted him. Let’s wait and see."

Since taking over the managing Nigeria two years ago, Coach Rohr has aggressively been pursuing diasporans with Nigerian heritage to play for the Super Eagles. Among the players who have had to switch their allegiance through Fifa to represent Nigeria include Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, William Ekong, Tyronne Ebuehi and Ola Aina.
