Liverpool convince Awoniyi to extend his contract and plan to loan him out to Monaco next season

SUPER Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi is set to extend his contact with English Premier League giants Liverpool who have agreed to send him out on a season-long loan to French club Monaco for the duration of the 2018/19 campaign.

Awoniyi, 20, was a member of Nigeria's U17 World Cup winning squad in 2013 and was signed by Liverpool on August 31 2015 and has since been sent out on loans to several clubs. Last season, the lanky striker played in the Belgian league where he was Mouscron’s top scorer with 10 goals in all competitions and his form which has already earned him fresh terms at his parent club Liverpool.

Several top European sides have been keeping an eye on Awoniyi, with the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City, Barcelona and Inter Milan all said to be interested. However, Liverpool have decided to hold on to their player and will loan him out until he can secure a work permit to play in the English Premiership.

Dropped from Nigeria's World Cup squad after picking up an injury, Awoniyi is a good targetman who holds the ball up well and can be relied up to serve the team with his back to goal.  Apparently, Liverpool believe that Awoniyi is something special and have moved to secure his future until 2023.
