Liverpool offer Gent €13m in addition to Taiwo Awoniyi in bid to secure Simon Moses' services

ENGLISH Premier League giants Liverpool have stepped up its interest in Super Eagles winger Simon Moses offering his Belgium clubside Gent €13m in addition to Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

Moses, 22, is a dashing winger who currently plays in the Belgian Jupiler League and was due to feature for Nigeria in the World Cup but missed out due to injury. Liverpool are keen to secure his services ahead of the 2018/19 season and have commenced talks with his club to secure a deal over the coming weeks.

Talks are said to already be at an advanced stage and to sweeten the deal for Gent, Liverpool are offering Awoniyi to Gent as part of the package. Awoniyi, 20, who won the U17 World Cup with Nigeria in 2013, is a striker currently on Liverpool's books but last season was sent out on loan to another Belgian side Royal Excel Mouscron.

Awoniyi scored 11 goals for modest Belgium side Mouscron last season and even though he is due to sign a contract extension at Liverpool, the club still want him to spend a season ‎on loan to a team preferably in the Europa League. Gent are said to be keen on acquiring him with the likes of Anderlecht and Club Brugge also interested in having him on loan.

Moses on the other hand has just a year left to run on his current deal with Gent, so the club are keen to sort out his future now, so he does not leave on a free transfer. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is said to be keen on Moses to offer cover for Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah, in the wide forward positions.

Simon is thought to be Klopp's type of winger as he is rapid, technically strong and especially impressive in one-vs-one situations. A versatile player, Simon can play on either flank or as a support striker, although the majority of his over the last season was  spent playing on the left.
