Minor changes in Eagles squad numbers as Ndidi gets to take jersey number four from Omeruo

SUPER Eagles team handlers have reallocated jersey numbers to the players going to the World Cup after head coach Gernot Rohr released his list of 23 with one major change being that Wilfred Ndidi will not wear the number four shirt.

Yesterday, Coach Rohr published the official list of 23 players who will be going to Russia as the team arrived in Austria for its final friendly game against the Czech republic on Wednesday. One major change is the number four shirt will now be worn by Wilfred Ndidi after Kenneth Omeruo who used it for the last three years agreed to relinquish it.

Following the change, Omeruo has been handed the number 22 shirt, which was first assigned when he first broke into the senior national team in 2013. Omeruo wore jersey number 22 at the last World Cup in Brazil and going back to it will allow Ndidi to drop the number 13 short he had previously worn.

Bryan Idowu will wear the number two, shirt while Simeon Nwankwo gets the number 13 jersey with Alex Iwobi settling for number 18 as opposed to his club shirt number 17, which will be worn by vice captain Ogenyi Onazi. Ikechukwu Ezenwa was handed the number one jersey even though Francis Uzoho who will wear shirt number 23 is the first choice goalkeeper.
