Lagos businessman Ebuka Eze remanded in custody after raping 16-year old Facebook friend

LAGOS businessman Ebuka Eze has been remanded in custody at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison by an Ikeja Magistrates Court after he was accused of raping a 16-year old Facebook friend.

Mr Eze, 27, was alleged to have arranged to meet the girl who he met on the social media platform and then proceeded to have forcefully had sex with her. Chief Magistrate PE Nwaka ordered that he be remanded in Kirikiri Prison, while the case file was sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

Prosecutor, Inspector Christopher John, told the court that Mr Eze, who resided at Ayodele Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, committed the offence on May 19 at his residence. He said the victim, who is a friend to the accused on Facebook, had responded to an invitation to his house, where she was raped.

“He invited her to his house and on getting there, he pushed her to the bed, covered her mouth with pillow and raped her. The accused then used the bed spread to clean the blood stain on her body.

“When the victim got home, her parents saw the blood stain on her dress and asked questions. Then, the case was reported at the police station and the accused was immediately arrested for questioning.”

If found guilty, the offence contravened Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which carries life imprisonment. The case was adjourned till June 28 for the DPP’s advice.
