Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi ruled out of tomorrow's friendly against England at Wembley

LEICESTER City's Wilfred Ndidi will miss out on Nigeria's friendly clash with England at Wembley tomorrow as team handlers are still keeping him under wraps to enable him fully recover from a recent hamstring injury.

A tough-tackling, no-nonsense midfielder, Ndidi, 21, is arguably Nigeria's best player at the moment, having established himself as the best ball winner in the English Premiership. He, however, suffered a hamstring injury while playing for his club Leicester City in a league game against Crystal Palace on April 28 and has been out of action since.

Named in the 30-man provisional World Cup squad, Ndidi has resumed swimming and gym work but is yet to kick a ball in anger. He is currently in England with the rest of the team as they prepare for tomorrow's match but did not participate in yesterday's squad training session and as such will not feature in the match.

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr, explained that Ndidi is still recuperating from the injury which brought his season to a premature end to his league season. National team handlers are working on a treatment plan designed by the medical team of Leicester City.

Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Ola Aina was missing from the Super Eagles ‎first full training session in London yesterday but is being kept in the team following doubts over the fitness of Tyronne Ebuehi. Speaking on the reason behind the exclusion of Aina who spent last season on loan to English Championship side Hull City, Coach Rohr said his absence is due to the fact that they wanted to have eleven players up against eleven players in a mini training game.

"We have 25 players here and we can’t play 12 against 12 but 11 against 11," he added.
