French side Nantes look to sign Bruno Onyemaechi before the January transfer window closes

SUPER Eagles left fullback Bruno Onyemaechi could be changing clubs while he is away on national duty at the African Cup of Nations after French Ligue One side Nantes submitted an offer to his Portuguese club Boavista.

 

Onyemaechi, 24, is away with the national team in Ivory Coast, although he is yet to see action in the ongoing continental fiesta. an overlapping fullback who gets up and down the line well, Onyemaechi has attracted some attention over the last few seasons, which is what git him a move to Boavista as well as brought him to the attention of the Super Eagles coaches.

 

With the January transfer window due to close tomorrow, Nantes have submitted a €3.2m bid for the fullback as the club seeks to replace Quentin Merlin who they sold to Marseille. According to Portuguese sports daily  O Jogo, Onyemaechi's fate will now be determined by  Boavista's president Vítor Murta, who will have to decide on whether to accept the bid from Nantes or not.

 

Nantes are not only the interested club aspiring to Onyemaechi, as an unnamed Turkish team are also said to be eyeing a move for him but it is only the Canaries that have come up with a firm offer. Last summer, Onyemaechi was linked with a move to Porto but the Portuguese giants were unable to strike a deal with Boavista.

 

Onyemaechi has started 13 matches in the Liga Portugal this season and has one assist to his credit. If this transfer move is to go ahead, Nantes will have to get Onyemaechi's medical done in Abidjan.
