Lagos State Police Command arrest auxiliary nurse who injected Mohbad before he died

MEN of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested the nurse who treated singer Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as Mohbad who passed away earlier this month at a Lagos hospital after being treated for an infection.

Mohbad's death is being treated as suspicious by his fans, especially as it comes in the wake of a very public falling out between him and his mentor, singer and songwriter Azeez Adeshina Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley. On 5 October 2022, Mohbad then accused Naira Marley of assault, stating that his former boss ordered people to beat him up after he announced his intention to employ a different manager to handle his music and business affairs.

Nigerian celebrities and aggrieved music fans have taken to the streets to demand justice for the late singer, with the protests kicking off in Akure, the Ondo State capital. Responding to this pressure, the Lagos State police commissioner inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death.

Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, recently paid a visit to the Lagos State police commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa, after which she conformed the arrest of the nurse. In a video shared via her Instagram page, the Nollywood actress briefed fans about her visit to the police boss and the progress on the investigation.

She said:  “The police have made some arrests in connection with Mohbad’s death. The nurse has been arrested, that I know. That’s the only information I can give you right now. They have arrested some people. They are asking some people to turn themselves in.”

Mohbad’s father, James Aloba, said that he suspected the auxiliary nurse who injected his son before he died. He stressed that the injection might have complicated his son’s health.
