Buhari approves the release of $1bn to purchase military equipment for the fight against Boko Haram

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has approved the release of $1bn for the procurement of security equipment to be used in the fight against Boko Haram terrorists by the Nigerian military.

 

Earlier today, defence minister General Mansur Dan-Ali, disclosed this at the end of a national security council meeting. He added that the meeting presided over by President Buhari was called to review the security situation in the country.

Senator representing Buhari's Katsina Central constituency passes away at the age of 63

SENATOR Mustapha Bukar representing President Muhammadu Buhari's constituency Katsina North Central District in the National Assembly has passed away this morning at the Nizamiye hospital in Abuja.

 

Popularly known as Madawakin Daura, Senator Bukar, 63, who is survived by two wives and 12 children has already been buried in Daura. Senator Bukar returned to Nigeria in March after spending one month in the UK for medical treatment.
