Barcelona eye Wilfred Ndidi with a view to purchasing him from Leicester at the end of the season

SPANISH giants Barcelona have set their sights on Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi with a view to purchasing him from English Premiership side Leicester City at the end of the season.

Ndidi, 21 is one of the hottest properties in English football at the moment, regarded as the best tackler in England and the second best in Europe with a massive 126 tackles in the league, averaging 4.2 per game. By statistics, he is the best ball-winning midfielder currently in Europe and has been linked with a move away from the Leicester after a series of stellar performances for the Foxes this season.

Last week, Leicester City manager Claude Puel insisted that speculations about the player’s future only shows how good both the player and the club have been in recent months. However, statistics show that Ndidi might just be the midfielder required to do the dirty job for the runaway La Liga champions with Sergio Busquets, Rakitic and Paulinho all in their 30s.

Ndidi also knows how to play with the ball, with an average 75% pass accuracy per game, something that suits the Barcelona pattern perfectly. If Ndidi has a brilliant World Cup, his value is likely to soar further.
