Hull City sweat on the fitness of Ajayi amid concerns he picked up a hamstring injury

SUPER Eagles centreback Semi Ajayi risks missing out on action over the next few weeks after being substituted yesterday in Hull City's Premier League game against Manchester United with a suspected hamstring injury.

Ajayi, 32, was one of the star's of the show at home yesterday, getting on the scoresheet in Hull's 2-0 victory over Man United. However, he got substituted in the 64th minute with a suspected hamstring injury and Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic, says he is not sure how long his star man will be out for.

Mr Jakirovic said he had to substitute his two goalscorers in the second half but this not part of the original plan, as the club made four changes in defensive as a result of injuries. He revealed that Ajayi complained of a hamstring problem before he was substituted in the second half.

“It was not the plan. We made four substitutions in the defensive line. I don't know what is really wrong but, after medical check I will know much more. Ajayi was complaining about his hamstring and Nobel on adductor. Coyle always with his ankles.

"That is normal. Maybe we will bring some new players again. We have 10 days to go, we will see. It depends on their problems,” Mr Jakirovic said.

Ajayi missed 14 matches through injury during the Championship campaign last season as Hull City secured promotion to the Premier League. He will now be assessed over the next 48 hours and is considered a doubt for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup encounter against Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium.

Hull City fans are still savouring Ajayi's 17th minute curtain raiser yesterday, that set the time for the 2-0 victory. Ajayi reacted quickest to smash home from close range after the Red Devils failed to clear a corner kick but his situation will be a major concern for the Tigers.
