All Air Peace flights are grounded as a result of industrial action over pay and conditions

NIGERIA'S largest airline Air Peace has had all of its flights disrupted as a result of industrial action carried out by its members of staff following an ongoing disagreement over remuneration terms and conditions.

As from this morning, all of Air Peace's flight operations were grounded as members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) placed the airline’s terminals under lock and key. All Air Peace activities at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos were disrupted, starting with its first flight at 6.30am.

At all other airports nationwide, operations have also been disrupted with all Air Peace flights grounded. Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) director of public affairs and consumer protection, Michael Achimugu, confirmed the incident and promised to provide further details later.

He added: “Yes, it is a union thing. When I get to the airport, I will be able to get more factual details of the situation.”

One X user, known as YoufoundAlex, took to his account and said:“I have a 9am appointment in Abuja today but unfortunately, I am currently stranded at the Lagos airport due to an ongoing protest by Air Peace workers, which has resulted in the shutdown of the airport and disruption of flights.”

This development left passengers in Lagos  stranded due to flight delays. It is not yet clear if the activities of any other Nigerian airline have been affected in any shape or form by the industrial dispute.
