I cannot believe that there is not a political consensus across Nigeria at the moment to launch an ambitious public works programme with the following targets

[1] Quadruple our 3,500km railway network, bringing the total to about 15,000km by 2030

[2] Build fences across our northern borders to curtail the flow of arms and ammunition into Nigeria

[3] Increase the size of our 195,000km road network to match Vietnam’s 570,500km

[4] Drastically expand home construction to plug the 28m housing units gap in the Nigerian market

[5] Build the world’s largest hydro-electric power plant at Lokoja. It must generate at least 25,000MW of electricity

[6] Get every local government area to build at least one general hospital. This will be part of a radical health plan that will include the construction of 12 specialist hospitals, two in each geo-political zone

[7] Build a technical college in each of our 774 local government areas

[8] Construct West Africa’s largest solar farm across Zamfara and Sokoto states. It must cover about 15,000 square kilometres

[9] Build at least one sports centre in each of our 774 local government areas. They must include swimming pools, cycling tracks, football pitches and courts for sports like basketball, handball, volleyball, etc

[10] Construct the world’s largest cattle ranch in the Sambisa Forest in Borno State. Augment this with five other mega ranches in Niger, Taraba, Bauchi, Kaduna and Yobe states. They will effectively be small towns
