Brentford and Glasgow Rangers both send scouts to watch Nigeria's Ryan Alebiosu

SUPER Eagles fullback Ryan Alebiosu could be on his way to either the English Premier League of the Scottish Premiership as Brentford and Glasgow Rangers have both stepped up their pursuit of the defender ahead of the forthcoming season.

Alebiosu, 24, currently plies his trade with Blackburn Rovers in the second tier of English football where he is under contract at Ewood Park until June 30, 2028. However, the London-born defender who has one senior Nigeria cap which he got during the last African Cup of Nations when he featured in a group game against Uganda, is keen to start playing at the highest level.

Widely regarded as one of the Championship's top right-backs, Alebiosu's impressive performances have attracted interest from clubs higher up the British football pyramid. According to Alan Nixon's Patreon of Football League World, Premier League side Brentford and Scottish giants Rangers sent scouts to watch Alebiosu during a recent pre-season fixture.

However, Alebiosu was unable to impress the watching scouts after missing the match through illness.  A virus ruled him out, along with several first-team players, as Blackburn Rovers were held to a goalless draw by Accrington Stanley at the Wham Stadium, meaning the scouts will have to wait for another opportunity to watch the player.

Brentford are exploring the market for another right-back to provide competition for Michael Kayode, while Rangers view the position as a priority as they plan for life after James Tavernier. Alebiosu joined Blackburn Rovers from Belgian club KV Kortrijk in 2025 and enjoyed an impressive debut campaign, scoring once and providing five assists in 40 matches.

Italian and German clubs are also reportedly keeping tabs on the Hale End Academy product. Having obtained a Nigerian passport ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Alebiosu was named in Nigeria’s 28-man final squad for the tournament, marking his first senior call-up for the Super Eagles.
