SUPER Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has unveiled his list of 24 players who will participate in the two high-profile friendly games against Portugal and Poland taking place next month as part of the warm-up matches ahead of the World Cup.
Sitting in 21st place in the world, Nigeria is one of the highest ranked teams not going to North America 2026, making the Super Eagles highly sought-after opponents for teams wanting to play friendlies ahead of the World Cup. As a result, World Cup-bound Portugal have invited Nigeria to Lisbon to face them on June 10, while Poland have organised a friendly against the Super Eagles in Warsaw on June 3.
Picking his strongest squad available, Mr Chelle has invited to camp three goalkeepers, seven defenders, seven midfielders and seven forwards. Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has earned a place in the squad, alongside Maduka Okoye and Francis Uzoho, with Stanley Nwabali missing out due to the fact that he is currently clubless.
Despite initial concerns surrounding his fitness, Alex Iwobi has been cleared by Fulham's medical staff after returning from injury in last weekend's clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers , after spending close to a month on the sidelines. Also included in the squad are star forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, alongside Terem Moffi, Akor Adams, Paul Onuachu, Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze.
