Wolves turn down request from Turkish giants Besiktas to purchase Tolu Arokodare

ENGLISH Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers have turned down a request from Turkish giants Besiktas to purchase Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare during the current transfer window.

Arokodare, 25, was a £23m summer signing from Belgian side Genk during the summer transfer window. Wolves are currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, prompting Besiktas to made a bid for the striker in the hope that Wolves might want to offload their high earners.

Besiktas consequently put in a €15m bid for the striker but Wolves rejected it, demanding between €25m and €30m. According to transfer expert, Ekrem Konur, Besiktas are desperate to replace former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, who joined Aston Villa this week and Arokodare was seen as ideal.

In the summer, Wolves paid Genk €26m for Arokodare, so will be unwilling to accept anything less than that for him. Across all competitions this season, Arokodare has scored four times and provided one assist in 22 appearances for Wolves.
