GOVERNOR Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos State has been given a seven ultimatum to lift his recent ban on motorcycle and tricycle taxis known in local parlance as Okadas and Kekes or get dragged to court and face mass action protest.

Floated as a response to Amotekun, this new association has nothing to do with confronting criminals, providing security, offering intelligence on the activities of kidnappers or providing security. (1) First and foremost, I would have staggered the ban, introducing new routes to it on a quarterly basis over the next two years. That way, people will be gradually moved into alternative employment
(2) Mobility technology companies like Gokada, ORide and Max.ng would be exempt from the ban. They pose no security risk whatsoever. If anything the states owes them as they have invested something like $100m into the Lagos economy
