I expect the National Assembly to soon pass a bill into law that will provide the following constitutional roles for Nigeria’s six geo-political zones before next year’s elections

Ayo Akinfe

[1] Security and second tier policing - I look forward to a 42 state structure with each geo-political zone made up of seven states. Under this arrangement, the geo-political zone will be responsible for regional policing. Each zone will have a body similar to Amotekun but four out of the seven governors need to approve deployment for major operations to prevent governors using these bodies as private armies

During his second term, I would like to see President Tinubu organise an Anglo-Nigerian summit aimed at attracting payback foreign direct investment. They owe us big time

Ayo Akinfe

[1] In the run-up to The World War Two, Lord Beaverbrook , Britain’s minister of aircraft production had a unique foreign trade policy. He believed Britain should focus all its trade with its colonies like India, Nigeria, Jamaica, etc. He was of the view that trade should be kept within the empire. Sadly, trade with the empire was never really given a try

Now that President Tinubu has been successfully nominated as the APC candidate, can he please do something drastic to announce that Nigeria is open for business

Ayo Akinfe

[1] Somehow, there was a presidential primary election in the APC, that actually involved a candidate standing. This candidate got zero votes but hey, it was still officially an election. Now that President Tinubu has been returned, can he please start work on economic planning
