Eagles head coach Rohr clashes with Muslim players over fasting ahead of South Africa game

SUPER Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has become involved with several of his players over their decision to observe the Ramadan fast this week while the team prepares for a crucial African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.

 

On Saturday June 10, the Eagles face Bafana Bafana in a crunch game at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo and coach Rohr is eager to have all his players fully fit for the encounter. However, the Muslim members of the squad will want to fast on the day, which Mr Rohr fears may affect their performance.

Central Association of Nigerians in the UK condemns London terrorist attack

It is sad to hear that our wonderful capital city of London has once again come under attack by extremist terrorists just three months after the Westminster attack and within days of Manchester coming under attack.

We the executive committee members of the Central Association of Nigerians in the UK (Canuk condemn these attacks and stand with all Londoners in saying we shall not be cowered, intimidated or beaten.

We stand tall and we stand firm against terrorism, against those who threaten our way of life and  our freedom.

Super Eagles crush Togo's Sparrow Hawks 3-0 in Paris friendly match last night

NIGERIA'S Super Eagles thrashed Togo's Sparrow Hawks 3-0 in a friendly match in Paris last night thanks to an early strike by Leicester City's Ahmed Musa and an accompanying brace from Manchester City's Kelechi Iheanacho.

 

Organised to prepare the Eagles for their forthcoming African Cup of Nations against South Africa, the match is the team's second game within a week. Earlier on in the week, the Eagles drew 1-1 with the Corsica national team, as head coach Gernot Rohr seeks to try out new players ahead of a busy competitive schedule.

Indonesia to increase its purchases of Nigerian crude oil as both nations step up bilateral trade

NIGERIAN National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) officials have disclosed that Indonesia has indicated its interest in increasing its crude oil purchases from Nigeria in a development they hope will boost the country's exports.

 

At the moment, Indonesia is one of Nigeria's largest crude oil purchasers, overtaking traditional buyers like the UK and US. According to NNPC, while Indonesia produces 900,000 barrels of crude oil per day, it uses 1.4m barrels, so 18% of its supplies come from Nigeria and 28% from Saudi Arabia.

Fashola promises that Buhari regime will meet its promise of generating 10,000MW by 2019

POWER minister Babatunde Fashola has promised that the government will meet its target of generating 10,000MW of electricity by 2019 in line with the pledge provided by President Muhammadu Buhari.

 

When President Buhari assumed office in 2017, he said he believes that 10,000MW will be an appropriate amount of power required to meet the nation's energy needs. On May 29, 2015, Mr Fashola, the minister of power, works and housing, pointed out that the amount of power available on the national grid was 2,690 megawatts while on May 29, 2017, the amount was 4,014 megawatts.
