With the Dangote refinery now taking over as the main operator in the Nigerian petroleum sector, we need to find a new role for the NNPC

[1] With the Dangote refinery poised to take over as Nigeria’s main source of petrol products, this is the time to cannibalise the NNPC and convert it into an industrial concern

[2] Dangote’s Lekki refinery has effectively made the three dormant NNPC refineries needless. We have to now convert the Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna refineries into manufacturing plants churning out finished goods

Surely this current petrol crisis should force the Nigerian government to step up the introduction of a clean energy bill aimed at wooing us off fossil fuels

[1] As from January 1 2025, no building in Nigeria will be granted a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) unless it has solar panels installed on its roof

[2] As from 2027, all buildings in Nigeria must have solar panels installed on their roofs. Not having one will attract prosecution with the risk of the property being forfeited to the federal government

[1] Motorcades of all government officials must never exceed five vehicles under any circumstances

[2] All official government cars from henceforth will be electric

[3] All government officials are to consider travelling by train as a first resort when going on official assignments

[4] When government officials are attending the same event, they should look to travel together in a coach rather than individually by car

PDP officially rejects Edo State governorship election results promising legal action

NIGERIA'S main opposition the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially rejected the Edo State governorship election results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec) which declared the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) the winners.

Edo State is known as the heartbeat of the nation because of its bi-partisan and cosmopolitan structure. Now, that they have elected a new governor, maybe the state can get the ball rolling with a new education policy for the other 35 to emulate

[2] Class sizes in all primary and secondary schools across Edo State will never exceed 30

[3] There must be at least 10 primary schools in each of the 18 local government areas that make up Edo State

[4] There must be at least five secondary schools in each of the 18 local government areas that make up Edo State
