Bidding war for Osayi-Samuel heats up as Glasgow Rangers join Leeds in seeking his services

SCOTTISH giants Glasgow Rangers have tabled an offer to sign Super Eagles fullback Bright Osayi-Samuel believed to be worth £9m as the scramble for his services escalates with Leeds United also opening talks with Fenerbahce.

In Nigeria's last three internationals, Osayi-Samuel, 25, has stood out as the Eagles best player and his startling displays have caught the eye. A galloping fullback, he joined Fenerbahce from Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in January 2021 and his recent good performances has attracted the attention of several English clubs.

Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace are all believed to have tried to sign Osayi-Samuel over the last year, with Bournemouth even reported to have sent a private jet to Istanbul for him during the last January transfer window. However, due to their loan requirements, his transfer to Bournemouth was unsuccessful.

Most English football fans will remember Osayi-Samuel as a winger starting out at Blackpool and playing 79 times before moving to QPR where he clocked up another 115 games, 103 of them in the English Championship. In 2020, Osayi-Samuel made the surprise move to Turkey, which has helped him earn three Nigeria caps.

Leeds and Bournemouth are already said to be in talks with Fenerbahce over the player valued at about £9m and now Glasgow Rangers have entered the fray too. Michael Beale, the Rangers manager, is said is looking to steal a march on Leeds and Bournemouth as he needs new players as his club prepares for a Champions League third-round qualifying match.
