Buhari joins in congratulating Hilda Baci after she sets new world record in cooking

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Nigeria's 27-year-old gourmet chef Hilda Bassey Effiong popularly known as Hilda Baci for making history by breaking the world record for the longest hours of cooking.

Hilda broke the record which was hitherto held by Indian chef Lata Tondon  earlier today after she cooked for 91 hours but will complete the task at 4pm today by which time she will have cooked continuously for 96 hours. In what is considered another feather in Nigeria's cap, Hilda has been getting massive support, especially from celebrities and politicians across the country.

Joining in, President Buhari has lauded the young culinary expert for turning her talent and passion into a career. He commended her for running a restaurant in Lagos that trains other talents on entrepreneurship and now leads the world in resilience, perseverance and consistency in cooking.

President Buhari said: "The antecedents of the restaurateur, dazzled at the Jollof Face-off Competition, 2021, preparing mouth-watering dishes that won the choice prize and settled an age-long rivalry with Ghana on which African country should own the trademark for cooking better jollof- rice.”

If Hilda ends up cooking until 5pm today, she will have set a new world record of cooking for 96 hours. Current Guinness Book of Records holder Indian chef Tondon, achieved her feat in 2019 with 87 hours and 45 minutes of uninterrupted cooking.
