Ipob threatens to disrupt Ohaneze's restructuring summit and warns it will attack their children if need be

INDIGENOUS People of Biafra (Ipob) activists have vowed to stop Ohanaeze Ndigbo from holding its planned summit to discuss the restructuring of Nigeria saying such a move was unacceptable as all they want is secession.

Over recent months, there have been deafening calls for the restructuring of Nigeria from its component ethnic groups, with demands that the country moves back to the 1960 formula that saw the federating units control their resources and economies. This is in contrast to the current arrangement whereby the federal government has control over the economy and allocates handouts to the 36 states.

Most pan-cultural groups are already drawing up their restructuring proposals but Ipod objects to the moves, saying it is only interested in outright secession. Describing the Ohaneze Ndigbo gathering as Fulani-sponsored Igbo summit, Ipob said such a move was unacceptable.

Ipob spokesman Emma Powerful, accused the president of Ohanaeze, Chief Nnia Nwodo, and some Igbo leaders of sabotaging Ndigbo's cause by hobnobbing with the Fulani oligarchy. The group maintained that the only summit that it would support was one that would educate the people on a referendum to decide on Biafra and not on restructuring to remain in Nigeria.’

Mr Powerful said: “We, the indigenous people of Biafra  and its leadership worldwide, once again warn Chief Nwodo of Ohanaeze Ndigbo not to dare hold the Fulani-sponsored Igbo summit in Enugu. Ipob warns Nnia Nwodo and his collaborators not to dare Ipob or face the consequences from the youth.

"We are well aware of the nocturnal meetings between Nwodo and a certain brigadier affiliated to the general officer commanding the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army Enugu. These same people, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and southeast governors ran to and convinced them  to launch Operation Python Dance II are the same people Nwodo and his Ohanaeze Ndigbo are running to now for security."

He added that if Ohanaeze Ndigbo likes, let them surround the venue with armoured tanks and Fulani soldiers but the summit will not hold unless Chief Nwodo and his collaborators kill us all on the day. Ipob vowed to go after Chief Nwodo’s children, as well as those of the southeast governors and other organisers of the summit should anything untoward happen to Ipob members who would come out en masse to disrupt the summit.

However, Chief Nwodo said, “As a father, I would not want to enter into any crossfire with my children.  They can say what they like but I’m not interested.

"These people are my children and I don’t want to enter into any crossfire with them. I’m their father, I can’t be replying to anything they say but I think the secretary-general of Ohanaeze has replied them.”
