Edo Okada driver Paul Edobor flees his home after his wife delivers a set of triplets

EDO State commercial motorcycle operator Paul Edobor has abandoned his wife of 12 years and fled after she gave birth to a set of triplets because he dreaded the thought of looking after them when he is still struggling to maintain the two they already have.

Mr Edobor, 44, from Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, took flight from his home in Uromi when his wife, Ugomma, had the three identical baby girls. He was also said to have ignored phone calls from his wife, who said that her husband had lamented his inability to cater to the triplets as he struggled to take care of the two children she already had for him.

Ugomma said: “My husband ran away because he could not take care of the babies. I had my antenatal care in a hospital but I put to bed at home.

“He left me when I was in labour. After I had the babies, I called his telephone but he refused to pick the calls.”

Mrs Edobor, who hails from Abia State, lamented the fact that her husband’s absence had left her and the children stranded. She noted that she had been living on alms from kind Nigerians and appealed to her husband to return home, saying he had been forgiven.

“People have been the ones helping me to buy baby things as I have been going to markets and churches with the babies to beg for alms. Wherever I go, people thank God for giving me these babies, however, I want my husband to come back to me.

"I have forgiven him, we were married in the traditional way and there is no going back. I also want the government and good-spirited individuals to come to my aid to enable me to take care of my babies,” she added.
